Captain keeps your bookmark service, Caves, Chests, bookmarks, settings, and customizations on your local drive. Your use of Captain is not dependent on a recurring cloud subscription.
Your collection remains yours
Even if CoW were no longer operating as a business, you could continue using the Captain bookmark service and the work already stored on your device.
